oddee.com is seriously one of my all time favourite websites! (thank you lester for introducing!) ’cause it has all the weird and funny and crappy stuff from all over the world, it’s like watching ripley’s believe it or not on your computer!
and here are some of my “favourites” from the site:
1) under 10 Most Fascinating Medical Miracles,
Wife shot by husband got a new face
Connie Culp is a 46-year-old Ohio woman who has had the first face transplant in the US, and her new look was a far cry from the puckered, noseless sight that made children shrink away in horror, after being shot by her husband.
Culp’s expressions are still a bit wooden, but she can talk, smile, smell and taste her food again. Her speech is at times a little tough to understand. Her face is bloated and squarish, and her skin droops in big folds that doctors plan to pare away as her circulation improves and her nerves grow, animating her new muscles. Culp’s husband, Thomas, shot her in 2004 then turned the gun on himself. He went to prison for seven years. His wife was left clinging to life. The blast shattered her nose, cheeks, the roof of her mouth and an eye. Hundreds of fragments of shotgun pellet and bone splinters were embedded in her face. She needed a tube into her windpipe to breathe. Only her upper eyelids, forehead, lower lip and chin were left.
She endured 30 operations. Doctors took parts of her ribs to make cheekbones and fashioned an upper jaw from one of her leg bones. She had countless skin grafts from her thighs. Still, she was left unable to eat solid food, breathe on her own, or smell. Then, in a 22-hour operation, Dr. Maria Siemionow led a team of doctors who replaced 80 percent of Culp’s face with bone, muscles, nerves, skin and blood vessels from another woman who had just died. It was the fourth face transplant in the world.
No information has been released about the donor or how she died, but her family members were moved when they saw before-and-after pictures of Culp.
2) under Unfortunate Bodies: 7 Unbelievable Genetic Accidents,
Frog-like Baby (unidentified baby – Nepal)
On 2006, this bizarre-looking baby was born in Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha district, attracting a huge number of onlookers to witness the astonishing sight.
The neck-less baby with its head almost totally sunk into the upper part of the body and with extraordinarily large eyeballs literally popping out of the eye-sockets, was born to Nir Bahadur Karki and Suntali Karki at the Gaurishnkar Hospital in Charikot. The Karki couple is a permanent resident of Dolakha’s Bhirkot VDC.
The bizarre baby, however, died after half an hour of its birth, Suntali, the mother, informed. It was taken to the hospital after its death. The news about such a baby being brought to the hospital spread like wildfire and there were hundreds gathered at the hospital to have a look. The police had to be deployed to control the crowd.
The baby weighed 2kg at birth and was born after the normal nine-month gestation period. Suntali, already a mother of two normal daughters, was not suffering from any illness during the pregnancy. Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born baby’s death. “I am happy that nothing happened to my wife,” he said.

Dennis Avner: the Catman
Dennis Avner, also known by “Catman” or his native american name of “Stalking Cat”, has undergone incredible extensive surgery in order to look like his totem animal, the tiger. Modifications include extensive tattooing, transdermal implants to allow whiskers to be worn, subdermal implants to change the shape of the face and the filing and shaping of the teeth to make them look more like a tiger’s.

Cathie Jung: World’s Smallest Waist –15 inches
Honestly, no Photoshop. Cathie Jung’s tiny waist measures just 15in (38cm), making her figure distinctly hourglass. The Queen of Corsets, as she has aptly named herself, has worn tight-fitting corsets for years to get there, and appears in the 2007 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. Whilst she currently holds the record for the smallest waist on a living person, the record for the smallest waist ever goes to Ethel Granger who had a wasit of just 13″.

Vivian Wheeler: World’s Longest Female Beard –11 inches
With the longest hair in her beard measuring 11 inches – 27.9 cm., Vivian Wheeler of Illinois is blessed (blessed?! i wouldn’t want to be “blessed in this way! ) with having the longest beard for a female. Her father insisted she start shaving at the age of 7, but since 1993 Vivian Wheeler has not, letting her beard grow.
5) under 12 Most Bizarre ID Cards and Passport Photos,
Meet Batman Bin Suparman.
Aparently this young man from Singapore was blessed in 1990 with
being named after two superheroes: Batman and Superman.
“Bin” means “son of”, so his name is really “Batman son of Superman”, which is even funnier…

She was born with 4 toes and a sense of humor

Scarification
Scarification is the creative and artistic application of scars in a controlled manner to achieve an aesthetically or spiritually pleasing result. In the process of body scarification, scars are formed by cutting the skin. Even though many people hold that scarification is no more painful than tattooing, it is somehow more “intense” to most of them.

i figured i’ve slacked enough since the day i had my last paper,
so i’ve finally decided to take a step (a rather BIG one!) forward in pursuing my future career!
that is to say,
i’m going for the hynotherapy course preview tomorrow in orchard!
and if i like it,
the real thing will start next week!
and if i manage to complete the course,
i’ll become a certified hynotherapist!

2 years since i bid farewell to baozhu, wenhao and edwin.
a year since i cried when the mchat gang + xiu + many others left.
4 weeks since i started practising my own command items.
