my very own themepark

who says geeks can’t be romantic?

my otaku bf just 心动 me big time on sat.

i was actually quite upset with him on sat,

because he was busy gaming at the time when we were supposed to meet.

what’s more infuriating was that he actually asked me to take it as if i can’t meet him that day:

what audacity!

and this wasn’t the first time i had to deal with such disappointments.

ok, i admit i happened to be pms-ing too,

so things tend to get blown out of proportion,

but still! hmmph!

luckily,

he didn’t finish gaming too late,

and by the time i saw him,

i wasn’t that angry already.

as a result,

i totally didn’t expect the surprise that was awaiting me at his house.

when we got to his place,

he switched on his computer and started the roller-coaster tycoon game that we were both playing for the past few weeks.

i saw that he created a new themepark so i went to explore by moving the mouse about.

and then i saw this:

OMG SO SWEET!

he actually built a themepark and named it “King’s Love” (so lame, but i like! :P )

and planted trees (painstakingly planted one by one!) to form the words I ♥ XY.

awwwwwww!

i’m touched that despite all the stuff that is going on (be it work, family, etc),

he actually bothered spending the efforts to 心动 me.

times like this just make me feel like i’m the one who should be putting in more efforts into the relationship.

:/

well, i guess being with a games-obsessed bf is definitely not an easy task,

but it isn’t totally unbearable too.

thank you, love! :)

it’s the time of the year again.

school’s starting again! :( :( :( :(

i can’t believe i’m dreading this as much as a primary school kid.

the 2 weeks of holidays simply zoomed past like that (as usual).

although i managed to complete 3 out of the 5 things i promised myself i would do,

i still feel pretty unaccomplished. :(

just now when zikai asked me if i missed my students after not seeing them for so long,

i feel like asking him if he’ll miss his bangla workers when he’s away.

I DON’T MISS MY STUDENTS AT ALL :(

and i really want a longer break.

potong pasir – the forgotten place

how many of us have actually been to potong pasir?

well, i’m proud to say that prior to this trip,

i’ve been to the CC once for some social work thingy.

never knew i would step foot into this (kinda) forsaken land again,

but all thanks to all the post-election hype,

we decided to explore one of singapore’s oldest neighbourhood (not because it’s truly an old estate, but really due to its poorly-taken-care-of exterior).

 …

the recognisable icon of potong pasir (both the sign, and the man :) )

retro shops were everywhere!

i remember reading somewhere that because potong pasir was governed by the opposition party since 1984,

it hasn’t really gone through any bit of renovation since. :(

even amenities were compromised.

i heard potong pasir didn’t have their own mcdonalds until the recent years.

one of the must-do of our mini expedition was to take a photo of the legendary cubicle that mr chiam see tong used for his meet-the-residents sessions in the past few years.

here’s us en-route to the famous block 108.

shaopeng attempting a shot of xiu coming down the slide :D

and we’re finally here!

pillars painted in this season’s hottest hues. :P

the actual cubicle was even more shabby that i’ve imagined.

it was just an old wooden table + some aluminium panels for partitioning.

it’s really hard to picture poor mr chiam working there for the past 27 years.

the many notes from all parts of singapore under the glass panel.

copycat us attempting to write a note for mr chiam too :P

i can’t remember if we did leave it on the table though!

imposter-potong pasir residents waiting to meet the MP :P

the new vs the old

we took the vintage lift up to the highest floor,

as shaopeng wanted to take a photo of the iconic sloping roofs.

before we proceed to our last stop,

we stopped by some mama shop to grab a drink.

and to our final stop:

ending off this post with a picture of us and beloved mr chiam:

:D

we were bored, therefore we planked.

due to the poor attendance,

what was supposed to be a poker-cum-farewell session for wenhao turned out to be a hilarious night of planking.

in case you’re lousier than me (i only found out last weekend) and have zero idea what planking is,

here’s a definition from wiki:

The lying down game (also known as planking, or face downs) is an activity, popular in Asia and Australia, consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The location should also be as public as possible, and as many people as possible should be involved.

(warning: do not attempt these poses at home)

introducing to you the heaviest plankton among us…

plankton #1!

don’t judge him by the size of his tummy,

this planton can plank anywhere!

on the stairs,

on other planktons:

and even on vehicles!

though not as versatile,

plankton #2 is equally impressive.

check out his 高难度 upside down pose:

girls can be good planktons too!

just check out santhit and myself:

but the title “plankton of the night” must go to our longest-standing planking plankton:

BRENDON LEUNG!

subtly planking by the side throughout the night!

(in fact, he has been planking everytime when he’s at boonkeng, hasn’t he?)

haha okays,

enough of planking,

here are some other non-planking captures of the night. :)

***

feel free to suggest more (extreme) places to plank!

plankton #1 will gladly be at your service :D
