a day in geekland + (almost!) meeting the in-laws
May 23, 2009
because my boyfriend is a geek,
who is in love with his sorcerer cards (more than being in love with me),
and because i am the most understanding girlfriend on the planet,
i accompanied him to the Games Convention at Suntec.
where all the geeks in the world (yes people actually flew here from all over the globe) gather to play games.
how uninteresting.
and my dearest boyfriend signed up this 6hours long card tournament,
leaving the poor girlfriend to stare into space the whole time.
i guess the only incentive (other than being able to see zikai for the whole day) is this:

the cutest human in the entire convention hall.
oh and i saw lianie too!

still quite pretty in reality i must say.
…
my agonizing “conventional date” ended earlier than expected as geek boyfriend decided to become understanding boyfriend and he pulled out from the last game. (yay!)
so we jalan-jalaned a bit down suntec,
ended up outside esplanade along the singapore river,
accompanied by a bunch of rowdy minnas on the left, camwhore ang mohs on our right and a pair of kissing lesbians (yikes) behind us.
despite the not so condusive location,
we had a rather nice long chat as we watch the reflection of the sunset on the emerging IR buildings.
and because i insist that he send me home to thank me for my understanding-nessĀ and nice-ness the entire day (i walked around so much to buy lunch for him that i got blisters okay),
we decided to go geylang for dinner so that he can get the car and so that i can satisfy my beef hor fun craving.
at first,
geek boyfriend wasn’t planning to let me into his house.
he planned to just take the car keys and flee.
but he eventually changed his mind,
and brought me to his house!
i was thrilled i tell you.
first time in my life visiting a boyfriend’s house.
(i blame it on stupid mrp.)
and so we stayed there 2 hours before he sent me back.
though i still didn’t get to meet the parents (they were asleep by then),
i was uber happy to be able to go his house.
like a dream come true!
thank you chanzikai!
hope you’ll win your tournament on sunday!
